Overhead Gantry Crane Operator Unit Standard 3800

Course Aim
All persons operating or working with a crane must hold the following applicable Unit Standards as a minimum qualification and preferably hold the relevant New Zealand Certificate in Crane Operation.

The minimum requirement for operating a pendant or remote-control traveling crane is unit standard 3800.

 Course Overview
Theory and practical assessments covering the following: 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of company procedures and requirements for lifting practices and overhead cranes
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pendant and remote-controlled cranes, monorail, and suspended hoists and lifting equipment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the care and safe use of pendant and remote-controlled cranes, monorail, and suspended hoists and lifting equipment
  • Sling, lift, travel, and unload or place regular loads
  • Park crane and store equipment

 Prerequisites

  • Unit Standard 30072 knowledge of slinging regular loads safely                                                   
  • If trainees do not hold 30072 do not panic, we can deliver this unit for you also
  • Evidence of 6 months experience in an environment where cranes are operating

NZQA Unit Standard
3800: 
Operate a radio remote or pendant controlled overhead crane and lift and place regular loads - Level 3, Credits 10

Attendance Numbers: Minimum 4 - maximum 8 per session (up to 2 sessions per day)

Course Duration: Approx. 8 hours for beginner operator - Approx. 5 hours for experienced operator or refresher (course pre-reading required)

Course Location: TBC

Course Costs: $400.00+gst per person

Mileage$100.00+gst to Auckland, Hamilton & Tauranga and .95c+gst per km everywhere else

(Minimum number charges will be applied if minimum numbers are not met)
