Health & Safety Representative Unit Standard 29315

Course Aim
At the successful completion of this course a trainee will be able to: describe hazards that may harm workers, the work environment, and organizations; explain health and safety requirements for hazard control; describe hazard control methods; and identify hazards and apply risk assessment procedures.

Course Overview
Theory lessons covering the following:

  • Explain the role and functions of the Health and Safety Representative under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its Regulations
  • Explain the role of a Health and Safety Representative as an advocate for workers
  • Identify the obligations of a PCBU and WorkSafe New Zealand towards the Health and Safety Representative
  • Describe the risk management process and the importance of communicating with workers and management
  • Describe and demonstrate the powers and obligations that a Health and Safety Representative has in terms of issuing a Provisional Improvement Notice (PIN) and how and when to direct a worker to cease unsafe work.

Attendance Numbers: Minimum of 4, maximum of 10 per session

Course Duration: Approx. 8 hours

Course Cost: $400+gst per person

Mileage$85+gst to Auckland, Hamilton & Tauranga and .95c+gst per km everywhere else

Credit reporting costs not charged when minimum attendance is met (credit reporting cost - $10 per credit)
