5 Day High Risk Industry Training and Assessment Package

(Includes Working at Heights advanced, Confined Space & Permit Receiver)

These Packages are tailored help people gain experience and employment into specific industries, based around New Zealand industry needs and requirements. These packages are great value for money and ideal for people who have relocated to New Zealand or looking to change career and get a foot hold into a new industry.

Course Overview
Custom working at Heights safety course delivered on-site or at our facility, giving trainees both the theory and practical knowledge to ensure they are well equipped to rise above and beyond safely.

Site Supervisors (at least one employee per site)  

15757: Use, install, and disestablish temporary proprietary height safety systems when working at height - this is on this course.

This course will involve multiple scenarios using our custom built and dedicated facility.

 

Theory and practical sessions covering the following: 

 

  • Identify anchor points.
  • Use proprietary fall arrest systems.
  • Install and disestablish straightforward proprietary fall arrest systems using designated anchor points.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the hazards associated with wearing a safety harness and associated equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety harnesses and associated systems and equipment.
    Check and fit a safety harness.
  • Use a safety harness where a fall hazard exists at height.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the rescue plan to be activated in the event of a fall.
  • Retrieve a worker trapped within a system.
  • Identify hazards and controls within confined spaces
  • Develop an emergency procedure plan for a confined space
  • Complete required documentation for a confined space entry
  • Demonstrate knowledge of confined spaces and their permit notification and implementation requirements
  • Demonstrate knowledge of monitoring and confined space testing requirements
  • Describe the responsibilities and duties of people entering; or conducting observation duties for a confined space
  • Demonstrate knowledge of atmospheric testing in potentially hazardous environments
  • Conduct atmospheric tests and interpret and respond to atmospheric testing results
  • Explain permit types, roles and requirements for issuing a permit
  • Demonstrate the preparation requirements for issuing a permit including hazard analysis and supervisory requirements on site
  • Explain and demonstrate the implementation of control systems including monitoring of and compliance to work scope
  • Explain procedures for deviations in terms of change of scope, new hazards, changes in personnel and reasons for cancellation
  • Explain and demonstrate the action for completion of work and procedures for closure of permit

23229:             Use safety harness system when working at height Level 3 Credits 4

15757:             Use, install and disestablish temporary proprietary height safety systems when working at                          height Level 3 Credits 4

17599:            Plan a confined space entry Level 4 Credits 5 

18426:            Demonstrate knowledge of hazards associated with confined spaces Level 3 Credits 4

25510:             Operate an atmospheric testing device to determine a suitable atmosphere exists to work                           safety Level 3 Credits 4

17588:            Apply for, accept and carry out work according to a work permit in the workplace                                     Level 3 Credits 4  

Course Prerequisites:

(Course is carried out at Major Oak Safety Training’s training facility all equipment is provided, except footwear)

  • Safety footwear
  • Use of certified working at heights PPE including, helmets, harness, lanyard, fall arrest devices used in workplace, high-viz vests.
