Straddle Carrier Operator Unit Standard 17161

Course Aim
Trainees will be able to apply theory and skills in operation of a straddle carrier and analyse and evaluate processes, through practical experience.
This course is based on coaching and assessment only and is designed for trainees with experience in straddle carrier operation.
Combining theory and practical assessments participants will demonstrate the following skills.
Course Overview
Theory and practical assessments covering the following:
- Describe factors affecting the operation of a straddle carrier
- Prepare for straddle carrier operations
- Move loads with a straddle carrier
- Shut down a straddle carrier and report any defects.
Prerequisites
- A good amount of time learning the layout and communication protocols of the port the straddle is being used in, as well as time in the make and model of straddle going to be used for assessment.

17161: Operate a straddle carrier – Level 3, Credits 6
Attendance Numbers: Minimum 2 – maximum 4
Course Duration: Full day course
Course Location: TBC
Course Costs: $1,200.00+gst per person
Transit Days: $1,200.00+gst + $1+gst per km
Mileage: $120.00+gst to Auckland, Hamilton & Tauranga and $1+gst per km everywhere else
All other associated costs to be priced at the time including but not limited to flights, accommodation & meal allowances.
(Minimum number charges will be applied if minimum numbers are not met)
