Course Overview
This course will give you an in-depth understanding of the wearing and operating breathing apparatus in the workplace, as required in hazardous atmospheres such as, water treatment and commercial / industrial / marine refrigeration, topics both theory and practical include but not limited too:
- Describe the safe operation of a compressed air breathing apparatus (CABA);
- Prepare, test, and recommission CABA equipment;
- Wear and monitor a CABA;
- Implement emergency procedures.
This unit standard is not intended to cover the specialized applications of the fire services Or the below these are separate courses.
Unit 3272, Wear and operate breathing apparatus in general emergencies.
Or
Unit 14562, Perform specialist rescues in confined spaces
Or
Unit 25510 Operate an atmospheric testing device to determine a suitable atmosphere exists to work safely
Course Prerequisites
- This course is both physically and psychologically demanding. Some medical conditions will preclude attendance.
- A physical readiness questionnaire must be completed as part of the booking process.
- Facial hair must be shaved.
- Use of a training room for the duration of the course
- We prefer to train and assess you on your own equipment Please all equipment and charged bottles on the day, If you require us to provide, this must be communicated and confirmed at the time of booking.

Course Location Delivered on customers’ site or our site in Paeroa
Course Cost Option 1: $390+gst per person
Option 2: $2,400+gst per group
Mileage: $120.00+gst to Auckland, Hamilton & Tauranga and 1+gst per km everywhere else
(Minimum number charges will be applied if minimum numbers not met)
